Soft & Behavioural Skills

Training is one of the best investments an organization can make for itself and its employees. Regular training programs not only add to the skill set of its people thereby improving their job competence, they also aid in increasing job satisfaction resulting in greater growth for the organization which helps it stay ahead in today’s competitive world.

Getting results in business is both an art and science. While technical skills form the science , it is the soft and behavioral skills that form the art.

It’s often questioned if soft skills really matter if you are extraordinary at the technical aspects of your job? The answer is ‘ABSOLUTELY’.

Both sets of skills (hard and soft) are required; you are certainly not going to be successful in your job interview or at work with one set without the other.

Although technical Skills have always ruled the roost, in this globalized and continuously changing world, "soft skills" are gaining equal importance. It's not enough to be highly trained only in hard skills, without developing the softer, relationship-building skills.

The best way to put it is ‘It’s the hard skills that get you through the interview but you need soft skills to keep your job”.

To help organizations stay competitive as well as excel, The Yellow Spot offers the below list of Soft Skills Training and Behavioral Training –

Art of Effective Delegation

Delegation is the assignment of authority and responsibility to another person to carry out specific activities. Delegation empowers a subordinate to make decisions and unleash hidden potentials if done correctly. Delegation is a very helpful aid for succession planning and personal development.

Very often, however, there is confusion about the true meaning and nature of delegation. Certain patterns in thoughts and beliefs may hinder managers from delegating as often as they should.

In this session, participants will define delegation, discuss what stops us from delegating, understand why delegation fails and brainstorm to identify ways to overcome delegation failures. With the experiential methodology that The Yellow Spot uses, participants will be sensitized to the fact that delegation is an effective balance of choosing the right tasks to delegate, identifying the right people to delegate to, delegating in the right way and finally discuss the need to follow up on tasks along with constructive feedback.

Assertiveness

Assertive communication is the ability to express positive and negative ideas and feelings in an open, honest and direct way. It recognizes our rights while still respecting the rights of others. It allows us to take responsibility for ourselves and our actions without judging or blaming other people. It also allows us to constructively confront and find a mutually satisfying solution where conflict exists.

All of us use assertive behaviour at times. However, often when we feel vulnerable or unsure of ourselves we may resort to submissive, manipulative or aggressive behaviour. Being trained in assertive communication actually increases the appropriate use of this sort of behaviour.

Assertiveness Training enables participants to drop old behaviour patterns and change themselves towards a win-win approach for life.

×

Basic Negotiation Skills

Negotiation is finding a way out for all involved parties to gain something they value from the resolution of a position of conflict. It is a way that enables both parties to work together in the future.

Everyone needs to negotiate on a small or large scale. Some enjoy negotiations as a challenge, whilst others wish to have more confidence and assertiveness while doing it. If you are able to present yourself as a confident persuasive negotiator you can manage and influence many win-win negotiations.

This training is for professionals who need confident negotiation skills to succeed in life and work. The course looks at how negotiation theories work in practice and relates all learning and skills to the participants working situations.

Business Etiquette

Etiquette refers to a system of rules and conventions that regulate individual, social and organizational behaviour. As in any society, organisations have certain accepted rules of behaviour upheld and enforced by policies as well as some unsaid norms of behaviour mandated by culture and enforced by group pressure. Regardless of its culture, every organization possesses an etiquette in which every person knows the behaviour expected from him towards others and from others toward himself. We at The Yellow Spot, help our participants understand the globally acceptable etiquette which help them to enhance their persona by the way they communicate, groom themselves and conduct themselves with their seniors, peers, clients and subordinates at all times.

Coaching and Mentoring

The greatest good you can do for another is not just to share your riches but to reveal to him his own - Benjamin Disraeli, a former British Prime Minister.

Every organization would like to develop the next set of leaders internally, rather than having to hire from outside the organization. Hence they have to be able to continually coach and mentor the juniors to be future leaders. For this to be done successfully, good coaching and mentoring skills are required.

Coaching and Mentoring can be an effective performance management and talent development tool. For leaders and managers, effective coaching and mentoring skills can enhance their team’s performance and morale which in turn will greatly increase success. Conflict Resolution

Conflict is opposition arising from disagreements due to inconsistent objectives, thoughts or emotions within or among individuals, teams, departments or organizations.

Conflicts arise at task levels and also at the emotional or relationship levels. We've all experienced situations where we seem to have landed up in conflicts with people around us with different ideas and different ways of working, all hell-bent on the fact that their way is the right and only way. We all know very well what happens after that. If we start speaking against their ‘right and only’ ways, it marks the start of a never ending roller coaster ride with all its ups and downs, more downs than ups we should say!!! Or else if we simply choose to remain quiet, we get to see the result sooner or later in the form of internal conflict.

So is there any way out of this mind boggling mess? Is there some way by which we can present our views and yet not get into a tussle? Come and find out in our Conflict Management workshop which explores various aspects of Conflict and how to deal with them effectively.

Creativity and Lateral Thinking

Each one of us has been successful. That’s the good news. The bad news is that what brings us success at the current level is often known to act as a barrier for moving to the next level of growth.

These barriers are however often hidden from our view and hence difficult to identify and work upon.

Everyone is creative, but our creativity can be trapped like a mouse in a mousetrap either because of our belief that change is not required, our unwillingness to change, a lack of conviction that change can make a positive difference or an opinion that nobody wants change. The fact is that creativity can only be unleashed when we are willing for a change, a change that will break barriers and propel you to THE NEXT LEVEL, what we aim to do through our program on creativity.

Emotional Intellegence

Emotional intelligence (EI) is the ability to perceive emotions; to access and generate emotions so as to assist thought; to understand emotions and emotional knowledge; and to reflectively regulate emotions so as to promote emotional and intellectual growth.

Confused??? Let’s simplify that a little for you. How about if we say that EI is the ability of an individual to successfully understand and manage your own emotions as well as those of others. Easy???

This is precisely what we do in our Emotional Intelligence Training. We break the complicated world of emotions into simple components that you can understand and relate to. We help you understand why you behave the way you do, why others behave the way they do and in turn foster warm relationships by winning the hearts of people. We also help you to see how you can make lemonade when life gives you lemons!!!

Goal Setting

A goal is a desired outcome that a person, a team or an organization foresees, plans and makes a commitment to achieve. In other words, it is something that we wish to achieve and may set a time frame by when we wish to achieve it. It is having a purpose or an aim and the envisioned result guides ones action towards the desired object or state.

Whether you have small dreams or lofty expectations, setting goals allows you to plan how you want to move through life. Some achievements can take a lifetime to attain, while others can be completed in the course of a day. Whether you're setting broad overarching goals or planning specific manageable ones, you'll feel a sense of accomplishment and self-worth as you see them getting realised as per plan.

Getting started can seem to be a daunting task but that’s where we come in to not only to get you started but also to help you build up to even the loftiest of dreams.

Key Account Management

In today's competitive market the ability to act quickly, develop new products and delight the customer is essential. Key account management ensures you are aware of the market needs and can work with your customers before the competition is even aware of the lead.

Working on the assumption that 80% of current or potential revenues come from 20% of clients, it is not surprising that more and more businesses are tailoring their services and customer care packages to the benefit of that 20%. This is called key account management (KAM).

Why does key account development work for some organizations and not for others; how does it work and how can you sustain the advantage it can provide? Is KAM simply another management 'fad' or a serious strategy that can deliver competitive advantage? Can your organization gain strategic advantage from having a key account program?

This program would help individuals reach for these answers by showing how to position yourself with the key people in the buying organization and deliver the results that matter the most. The intervention will help individuals to work with their own, real-world accounts to establish KAM strategies, including establishing realistic revenue targets and devising detailed action plans to reach their goals.

Transactional Analysis (Basic and Advanced)

Transactional Analysis (TA) is defined as a theory of personality and is a systematic psychotherapy for personal growth and personal change.

A “transaction” is a stimulus coupled with a response. A transaction means an exchange – in communication there is an exchange of information, feelings, likes and dislikes, etc. It can be a “Hello,” a “Smile” or an “Angry Expression”. Thus when two or more people communicate, they do so verbally or non – verbally. One party sends a stimulus and the other the response.

Transactional Analysis Training helps in the analysis and correction of the transactions that take place every moment within and between individuals and groups. It deals with readily observable behaviours, words, tone of voice, gestures, facial expression, body postures, etc. in doing so.

TA can be practiced in a variety of areas such as Individual growth, Counselling, psychotherapy, treatment of mental disorders, group therapy, team building, organizational development, business coaching, in teaching professions and management practices, to mention a few.

Personality Development:

For most people, personality development is about how we look and how we behave with others. That definitely holds true, however it forms only a tip of the iceberg called personality. The major chunk of the iceberg is made up of our attitudes, beliefs, values, motivations and fears. These aspects of the mind govern the bodily aspects of personality, which in turn create our overall personality.

Diving deep down into our minds is at the core of our Personality Development workshops. This helps you in taking a closer look at who you are and understanding why you behave the way you do. These workshops put a spotlight on what goes on in our minds, the good and not so good part and how it affects our inner and outer worlds. This can help in creating a shift in perspective and help you change the lens with which you view yourself as well as you view your world. Once you transform your inner world your outer world is bound to take on a whole new colour! You can now understand and connect with yourself and with people at a deeper level and have better intra and interpersonal relationships.
