“… In this new book, containing more than 3,000 entries, the authors have compiled marriage and death notices from eight local newspapers from Seneca County, New York, ranging from 1817 through 1885.
“The first half of the book contains marriage notices and the second half death notices.
Each newspaper has its own section and the notices are organized chronologically within each.
Generally the marriage notices contain the full names of both bride and groom, where each was from, the location of the marriage, and the date of the ceremony.
The death notices, which provide a more varied assortment of information, always contain the date of death or the date of the newspaper.
Other information provided in death notices may include the date of birth, location of death and names of relatives yet surviving.
Although these newspapers were published in Seneca County, they include notices for the surrounding counties and many notices for those people who moved to other towns in New York or to other states.
A Surname index has been added to ease the search for specific individuals."
