UN issues advisory to troops in Lebanon amid Israeli aggression: Sources

As Israel launched a limited ground attack into Lebanese territory, the United Nations has issued an urgent advisory to all peacekeeping forces in the region, including Indian troops, to remain inside their bunkers, sources told India Today TV.
The situation along the Israel-Lebanon border has escalated rapidly, with the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) reportedly requesting the Lebanese Army to pull back by five kilometres from the border.
Approximately 600 Indian soldiers, deployed as part of the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon, are stationed in the volatile region.
According to sources, the Span Batt area in Cheba, a stronghold of Hezbollah and the base for the Spanish battalion in Lebanon, has become particularly vulnerable to the ongoing conflict.
Israel is reportedly using land-based weaponry in this region, which increases the risk for troops stationed there.
“All UN forces, including Indian Army personnel, have been instructed to stay within a limited area, with minimal exposure to the surrounding situation,” a source said.
Despite the hostilities, there have been no reports of casualties or damage to UN troops so far.
The Indian Army is closely monitoring the evolving situation to ensure the safety of its forces. While the advisory remains in place, Indian troops are prepared to follow all necessary precautions to safeguard their positions amid the ongoing conflict.
With no sign of immediate de-escalation, the UN troops in Lebanon are likely to remain on high alert as the situation unfolds.
